How To Make Homemade Breakfast Sausage

Breakfast Sausage
An American breakfast will not be complete without breakfast sausage. This is also called country sausage as this was originally made by farmers to maximize the use of their livestock. They came up with the idea of using the trimmings of meat in making sausage rather than throwing them or feeding to animals and it became popular to people around the country for its sumptuous taste and protein content.
You can find processed breakfast sausage in the market or you can make this recipe at home. You can fry and consume sausage after making the recipe or you can refrigerate and keep for several months. You can use a casing for your breakfast sausage or prepare without it. Here are the steps on how to make the sausage.
- Prepare the ingredients for making the sausage. These are ground pork (1 pound), sage leaves (1 tablespoon, minced), salt and pepper, dried thyme (1 pinch), garlic (1 clove, minced) and grated ginger (1 teaspoon).
- Get a large bowl and combine all the ingredients properly. Heat some oil in the pan. Fry some of the sausage mixture and taste. Adjust the taste to your preference by adding spices until you get the right taste for you. Refrigerate the mixture for half an hour.
- After 30 minutes, shape the patties and fry them.
- If you’re going to stock the sausage, it’s best to form them into patties before refrigerating. If using sausage casing, add some water on your sausage mixture until it becomes paste-like. Fill the casing with sausage mixture and refrigerate.
Get some of the refrigerated patties when you need to cook and return to the fridge once you get the needed sausage. Serve breakfast sausage with eggs, bacon, garlic bread and hot coffee for a delicious breakfast. If you prefer rice for breakfast, this can also be served with garlic rice.
